Safeguarding our spaces for today and tomorrow

Hygienic yet human-centric interior material solutions

There’s been a lot of discussion lately about the ‘new normal’. While no one can say for certain what the future will bring, we do believe that recent events have forced a shift in perspective. It’s inevitable when the activities we took for granted – a day at the office, a meal at a restaurant, a hotel stay, a hospital visit – have radically changed, heightening our sense of caution. We’re looking at the spaces and materials around us differently. Yes, they should be clean and hygienic and fulfil their function, but they should also still satisfy our human desire for comfort and support our wellbeing. In the end, we will still seek out beautiful, atmospheric interiors that celebrate tactility and colour. ‘Sterile’ doesn’t have to mean ‘clinical’.

a shifted perspective

Vescom has always offered material solutions that balance design and function. Whatever the need, Vescom’s wallcovering, upholstery and curtain fabrics inherently have the answer. The standards have suddenly changed, increasing the demand for high-performance products. We’ve spent decades developing, manufacturing and distributing interior material solutions that are comprehensively tested to meet the strict technical requirements of the contract market. Our extensive in-house knowledge and expertise leaves us perfectly positioned to help our clients navigate this period of increased vigilance – without compromising on comfort. To do so, we, too, have shifted our perspective. We’ve looked into our rich toolbox of tried-and-tested materials with fresh eyes to find the right solutions for each market.

sterile without looking clinical

We believe that products can’t just perform well in a space; they have to provide the right ambience, too. Vescom Protect – a vinyl wallcovering so sanitary it can be employed in surgical spaces – is newly relevant in the post-pandemic era. By applying our in-depth understanding of material structures, tactility and human-centric design, we can adjust such hygienic, high-performance products – which can be cleaned and disinfected – to suit other environments. Workspaces, hotels and restaurants can become sterile without looking clinical. Similarly, our vinyl upholstery and curtains imbue spaces with tactility and comfort – and can also be cleaned and disinfected.

more at ease

Now, more than ever, it’s crucial that interiors remain human. We want to feel safe and comfortable in a hotel, and connected and productive at work. When applied in the right way, Vescom materials improve the quality of our spaces – and, more importantly, help people to feel more at ease within them. In these uncertain times, that’s one thing we most certainly need.
